Stories from Hodoo, Kant, and Huku

We simply live together. Whether they mean to or not, life with them gives us quiet insights about what it means to live and be alive.
These moments remind me of the clumsy but precious lessons I learned raising my children.
But Hodu, Kant, and Fuku show me life in a simpler, more certain way. And that’s what makes it beautiful.

Hodoo

Born in January 2020, Hodu is a female Shiba Inu.
She used to be the most playful and spirited among her siblings,
but a year later, she grew into a calm and thoughtful little noble.
Though not very social with other dogs, she seems to show a gentle, motherly side toward Kant and Fuku.
She loves people—especially those with kind hearts. She always knows.

Kant

Kant is a male Korean Shorthair who came from the streets.
Around 6 a.m. on July 26, 2024, Hodu found him during our morning walk, lying near the parking lot of 9Block(cafe).
He was a tiny newborn, barely able to open his eyes—how he ended up there is still a mystery.
He was cheerful and affectionate at first,
but before long, his true Kantian nature awoke.
Now he wanders somewhere between deep thought and a deep love for food.

Huku

Born in June 2025, Huku is a female calico kitten—one of the babies born to a stray cat living near my wife’s office building.
She carries a wild spirit: fearless affection and athletic grace, all written into her street-cat DNA.
Some mornings, I have no idea when she arrived,
but I wake up to find her fast asleep under my blanket—our little bundle of love.

Pet Care

Care is in the little things—serving meals, brushing fur, watching them sleep.
In the quiet rhythm of each day, love grows slowly, and so does trust.

Companionship

To live together is to respect, not just to exist side by side.
